Wellness Weekly 4: Seeing Orange

By Idy Perl
Welcome back to the fourth installment of Wellness Weekly! This week we’re looking, no pun intended, into some myths surrounding carrots, and explore how limiting screen time can help with our sleep.
Myth Buster
Myth: Eating carrots will improve your
vision.
Truth: Although carrots have high amounts of Vitamin
A, which is essential to maintain healthy eyesight, its far from the only good
source for Vitamin A. Vitamin A can be obtained from leafy greens, brightly
colored vegetables, dairy and fish. In addition, the body only needs a small
amount of Vitamin A for vision, and it can only maintain eyesight, not
actually improve it.

Wellness Wisdom
Did you know that baby carrots are… regular carrots? A baby
carrot is a regular carrot that gets harvested before it reaches its full size.
The carrots are then cut and peeled into the baby carrot shape that we’re
familiar with.
Mind and Body Exercise
In 2025, a large part of our lives involves technology;
between working on computers and staring at our phones, we spend hours of every
day looking at screens. This can cause “digital eye strain” which can cause eye
dryness, headaches, and blurred vision. In addition, the blue light from the
screens can disrupt sleep patterns.
Limiting screen time has many benefits, both for our
physical and mental health. Try being intentional with your screen time
throughout the day, but especially before bedtime. Practice good bedtime routines
by putting your phone down an hour or two before bedtime so you can fall asleep
faster and sleep better during the night.
