Weekend Weather: Despite Slight Improvement, Heat to return with Ferocity
By: Yaker Biegeleisen
As predicted, we are on track for this heat wave to be the longest in nearly a decade.
The heat and humidity have been almost unbearable—but we got a slight break Thursday night due to a cold front.
Friday and Shabbos are expected to continue to be extremely hot, with the heat index set to surpass 100 degrees.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Advisory for most of Friday, for a number of New York counties, including NYC and Rockland Counties.
The Rockland area may get a thunderstorm Friday evening. But it will do little to alleviate the heat.
The public is urged to limit strenuous outdoor activity, and to keep hydrated.
