Veolia Offers Rockland Homeowners Rebates on Water-Saving Fixtures

by M.C. Millman

Veolia is offering Rockland residents rebates for outdated water fixtures to allow for more significant water conservation benefitting all Rocklanders.

The rebates will allow homeowners with a Veolia account to replace outdated water fixtures with newer, more water-efficient models.

Toilets, showers, and washing machines consume the most significant amount of water inside a home. Veolia's rebates and breakdown of potential savings on future bills will encourage upgrades of older fixtures to high-efficiency models.

Water fixtures eligible for the rebate include select Energy Star washing machines that may qualify for a $100 Rebate. Energy Star washing machines can save a household 10% or more on a typical purchase. This can amount to an estimated $50 annual water saving per washing machine based on the usage of an average Rockland family of four replacing a non-ENERGY STAR certified washing machine. There is a limit of one washing machine rebate per account.

New toilet WaterSense models qualify for a  $100 rebate and can save a household 50% or more on a typical purchase. This can amount to $65 in annual water savings based on the usage of an average Rockland family of four replacing a 3.5-gallon per flush toilet. Three rebates are allowed per account.

The new WaterSense model irrigation controller can receive a $50 rebate and save houeholds 30% or more on a typical purchase, amounting to $80 in annual water savings per irrigation controller. There is one rebate allowed per account for this.

The purchase of a new 55-gallon rain barrel through Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rockland will receive a $50 rebate for a sixty percent savings. One rebate is allowed per account. Rain barrels can be ordered by calling (845) 429-7085 or clicking here .

The purchase of a new WaterSense model showerhead allows for a $15 rebate. The new WaterSense model showerheads can save a household 50% or more on a typical purchase. This can amount to an average of $35 in annual water savings per showerhead based on the usage of an average Rockland family of four replacing a 2.7-gallon per minute showerhead. Three rebates are allowed per account.

Apply for the rebate(s) by either completing and mailing the appropriate paper application (residential rebate application or townhome/condominium rebate application) or filling out a rebate application online. Alternatively, Veolia and Orange & Rockland have partnered to offer mutual customers combined instant energy and water-saving rebates as an alternative to filling out the rebate forms and waiting for the rebate. Customers can click here to shop online at the My ORU Store for instant rebates without the rebate application process.
