Trespasser Arrested In Sloatsburg After Assaulting Police Officer

By Rockland Daily Staff

Last night, a Ramapo Police officer responded to a call about a possibly intoxicated individual involved in a dispute on Orange Turnpike in Sloatsburg. The individual was found trespassing on a business property.

The officer attempted to place the suspect under arrest, but the situation quickly escalated when the man broke free and struck the officer in the face with a closed fist. Despite the assault and continued resistance, including kicking, the officer gained control of the situation and was ultimately able to secure the suspect in handcuffs.

The 32-year-old Sloatsburg resident was arrested and charged with Attempted Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Trespass. The case will be heard in Sloatsburg Justice Court.
