Rockland County Opens New Walking Path in New City

Rockland County officially opened a new walking path connecting Dutch Garden to Morahan-Zebrowski Demarest Kill Park, giving residents a fresh place to walk, jog, and hang out outdoors.

The 0.75-mile path runs from the back lot near the bridge to the upper dam and was fully funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, covering the entire cost.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Allison-Parris County Office Building & Rockland County Courthouse today, residents got the first chance to walk the new trail.

Michael Hoblin, Deputy County Executive, said in a quote to Rockland Daily, “I’m very excited to be here today as we connect two wonderful parks—the Demarest Kill and Dutch Gardens—with a new walkable pathway for the residents of New City and for anyone who wants to come and enjoy this beautiful space.”

Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann added, “The Zebrowski-Morahan Trail is a wonderful new three-quarter of a mile trail that the county put in. It really connects the parks behind the county complex. This is a wonderful addition here in the town of Clarkstown, commemorating two great men and public servants, Ken Zebrowski and Senator Morahan. They both served in the Assembly and Senate for a long time and were longtime Clarkstown legislators. We really encourage everybody to check it out—it’s a beautiful new addition to the county park system right here in downtown Clarkstown.”

Eileen Barker, a New City Resident, said, “This beautiful park, named after my father, Tom Morahan, and Ken Zebrowski, is a meaningful recognition for both our families.”
