Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Initiative Carried Out Today in Ramapo

Ramapo officers carried out a safety initiative today at a location that has seen recent pedestrian and bicycle crashes. As part of the effort, 100 safety flyers were handed out, and tickets were given for violations including speeding in a school zone, unlicensed driving, cellphone use, seatbelts, and disobeying traffic signals.

The department said the initiative is part of its ongoing effort to make Ramapo’s roads safer and directly address recent safety concerns in the community.

“The Town is committed to improving pedestrian and bicycle safety.” Ramapo Town Supervisor Michael Specht tells Rockland Daily, “The Ramapo Police Department is using a combination of enforcement and education to effectively address this issue.”
