Residents Demand Change After Melnick Drive Flooding

Residents Demand Change After Melnick Drive Flooding

By Idy Perl

Yesterday afternoon, Melnick Drive was once again flooded in front of the post office, blocking traffic in both directions and forcing cars to reroute. As of this morning, the water has still not drained, continuing to cause problems for local residents.

What also repeated was the need to rescue people stranded in their vehicles, a situation that has become all too common whenever the road floods.

Melnick Drive tends to flood with even just a bit too much rain, and residents are now questioning what can be done to solve this persistent issue. Nearly every time it rains more than usual, the road gets completely flooded, often trapping vehicles and requiring rescue operations. The flooding is not only dangerous but also leads to numerous accidents and significant damage to properties and roadways.

It’s time to take a deeper dive into this issue and figure out how to improve the drainage on Melnick Drive in order to reduce the likelihood of flooding and make the street safer for both pedestrians and drivers.
