One Year Later, a Renewed Spirit of Kedushah in Skver; Massive Event Announced

We are approaching the one year anniversary of the historic hachnosas sefer Torah, a multi-day celebration of Torah and the sanctity of Klal Yisroel. As the community approaches nearly one year since the historic celebration of the Hachnasas Sefer Torah, which united thousands of Skverer chassidim in a magnificent gathering, there is a renewed commitment to sanctify and refine ourselves through positive resolutions, particularly in matters of technology use and tzniyus.

This past Friday night, shortly after davening, the Skverer Rebbe ascended a special podium to address thousands of chassidim. A hush fell over the crowd as the Rebbe’s gabbai, Reb Dovid Berger, announced—in the name of the Rebbe—the continuation of the celebration. “We now stand closer to the conclusion than the beginning of a full year since the great event, as on Shabbos Parshas Mishpatim the community will complete the reading of all the parshiyos in the holy Sefer Torah that was written by the Rebbe together with all the chassidim,” he said.

With this directive, the Rebbe emphasized the great importance of once again gathering together as a chassidus, to thank the Ribbono shel Olam for all the chizuk that this initiative has brought about. This is a time to strengthen ourselves in all these areas and to continue growing in holiness—by accepting additional positive commitments with even greater resolve.

According to the plan, a grand gathering will take place on Motzaei Shabbos Parshas Mishpatim, Shabbos Shekalim—the night of the 28th of Shevat—exactly one year after the historic Hachnasas Sefer Torah. At that gathering, the Skverer chassidus will renew and elevate its commitments in the areas of technology, strengthening them anew and raising them to an even higher level, to purify and sanctify themselves with a higher, loftier holiness.

Great excitement is being felt in the chassidus in the wake of this announcement, and many are expected to once again make their way to the Shtetl to join in this celebration from around the world.
