Nyack Details $4.5 Million NY Forward Grant

By Idy Perl

Last week, the Village of Nyack announced that they won a $4.5 million NY Forward grant from New York State to revitalize the town.  Today, Nyack revealed further details about the grant and what the money will be used for.

Some of the projects they hope to fund with the money include a new HVAC system for the Angel of Nyack event space, waterfront redevelopment, improving the walkability between downtown and the waterfront, support for the Fire Department’s workforce housing for volunteer firefighters, and various beautification efforts around town.

Those projects are not finalized yet, and the state along with a new committee that will be formed in the coming months will review how the money will be allocated. There will also be opportunities for the public to make their voice heard and offer opinions on how the money should be spent.

The Village estimates that it will take around a year to finalize the projects before the work can begin.
