Hiker Rescued From Local Trail

By Rockland Daily Staff

At around 6pm on Friday, multiple emergency service response teams rescued a hiker from the Torne Valley Hiking Trail at Harriman State Park.

Spring Hill EMS, Hillburn Fire Department, NYS Park Police, and NYS Rangers were dispatched to a call of a 40-year-old female hiker who fell around 20 feet on the trail and sustained injuries that were causing severe pain.

Upon arrival, the responding crewmembers had to make their way deep into the trail to reach the hiker, and completed a three-hour rescue mission during which they administered medical treatment and then safely transported the hiker out of the woods.

The woman was taken to Hackensack Hospital and treated for a compound fracture.
