New Jersey Man Arraigned On Felony Charges For Filing False Bank Statement With Rockland County Court

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced today that James Wolff, 50, of Teaneck, New Jersey, was arraigned on September 30, 2024, before Judge Pollock in the Town of Clarkstown Justice Court. Wolff faces one count of Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree, a Class E Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony.

The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Investigations Unit. In June 2024, investigators determined that Wolff knowingly possessed and submitted falsified bank statements to the Rockland County Surrogate’s Court and testified, under oath, to their validity. The documents, which were altered and falsely made, were intended to deceive the court.

“As alleged, the defendant filed false bank statements with the court. Trying to deceive the court is a serious offense and has consequences,” said District Attorney Walsh. “I commend the investigation by the Rockland County DA Special Investigations Unit and thank our law enforcement partners who assisted with the case.”

The case was investigated with the assistance of the Clarkstown Police Department. Executive District Attorney Michael Dugandzic and Assistant District Attorney Katherine Crispi are prosecuting the case.
