A serious fire broke out in the overnight hours of motzei Shabbos at the Ohr Chadash girls school on Conklin Road in Pomona.
The call originally came in as an automatic alarm. When the Chief of the Hillcrest Fire Department arrived on the scene, he advised dispatch of an active fire at the location. Multiple fire departments were then called to the scene to battle the blaze.
In a statement to Rockland Daily, the school leadership said: “We have asked the parent body to extend our chanukah break until Friday while we work to assess the damages and create a plan to return to learning as quickly as possible. The building has been boarded up and secured for safety and the damages are scheduled to be assessed tomorrow. We will have more information at that time.”
