State and Rockland Public Figures Mourn Former President Carter

The passing of former President Jimmy Carter has been met with an outpouring of tributes from public figures. At 100 years old, Carter was renowned for his post-presidency humanitarian efforts and peacebuilding initiatives.

President Carter was renowned for being the first U.S. president to welcome frum Yidden into the White House, hosting a historic meeting that included the Viznitz Rebbe of Monsey.

County Executive Ed Day of Rockland County expressed deep condolences, stating, “The County of Rockland mourns the passing of President Jimmy Carter, a man who dedicated his life to service, compassion, and humanity. His unwavering commitment to peace, justice, and helping those in need leaves a profound legacy that will inspire generations to come. On behalf of the people of Rockland County, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Carter family and all who were touched by his extraordinary life.”

Rep. Mike Lawler, through X, shared his condolences, writing, “Dorina and I express our condolences to the Carter family. He was a man of character with a servant’s heart. May his memory always be a blessing.”

Governor Kathy Hochul also shared heartfelt sentiments, posting on X, “President Jimmy Carter embodied decency and integrity throughout his life of public service. I’ll never forget as a teenager meeting him in Buffalo. He was an inspiration to me and so many Americans. Our hearts are with the Carter family during this difficult time.”

New York Attorney General Letitia James also paid tribute, stating, “President Carter dedicated his life to serving the American people, and his memory will live on. I’m sending my condolences to his family, loved ones, and every community he’s touched throughout his time with us. May he rest in peace.”
