It Takes A Village… To Build A Sidewalk

It Takes A Village… To Build A Sidewalk

By Idy Perl

The residents of New County Road in Airmont and the neighbors on the adjacent streets have signed a petition requesting new sidewalk installations on New County Road from their local legislation.

The neighbors all signed the petition with a pen and paper, the old-fashioned way, showing just how important this cause is to them. The twisting road is a safety hazard for pedestrians as cars often cannot see people walking on the sidelines.

The petition mentions the recently approved $30 million that has been allocated toward sidewalk projects in Rockland County, as reported by Rockland Daily, and requests that part of the $30 million should be used for New County Road.

The petition reads as follows:

Dear Legislator,

I hope you are doing well!

I am writing on behalf of myself and many concerned residents of Airmont regarding the safety of pedestrians along New County Road (CR 81).

We are grateful for the recent repaving of New County Road, and we believe adding sidewalks would significantly enhance safety for our community.

We also fully support the recent $30 million allocation for sidewalk projects in Rockland County, as announced by Legislator Aron Wieder, and believe that sidewalks along New County Road (CR 81) would be an important part of this initiative.

I would also like to mention that this petition has garnered a lot of signatures from concerned residents of Airmont, especially in the area of New County Road CR-81, all of whom support the installation of sidewalks along New County Road (CR 81).

These signatures come from residents on the following streets, as you can see in the attached petition:

  • New County Road
  • Laura Drive
  • Murray Drive
  • Eleanor Place
  • Woodland Place
  • Glenmere Court
  • Sobrisco Street
  • Glode Court
  • Plymouth Place
  • Appleland Road
  • Farmer Lane
  • Chelmsford Court
  • Monsey Heights Road
  • Christmas Hill Road

This broad community support highlights the importance of addressing this issue to improve pedestrian safety.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. We appreciate your ongoing dedication to the well-being of our community.

It takes a village to initiate change, and hopefully this petition will have the desired results and bring sidewalks to New County Road.
