Grandson of a Prominent Rebbe Attacked in Monsey

By Rockland Daily Staff
A disturbing incident took place on Monday at the Park and Ride in Nanuet when the grandson of one of the leading Rebbes in the U.S. was attacked by an individual in what some are considering an antisemitic assault.
The incident occurred when the yungerman was walking down the street during the early evening. A tall man approached him while shouting antisemitic slurs and brandishing a knife, and attempted to stab the young man.
Fortunately, the attacker dropped the knife for a moment, allowing the victim to flee the scene. While running away the yungerman encountered another yid who immediately called the police. When the attacked realized that the police were being summoned and a crowd was gathering, he tried to escape across the street.
The police arrived promptly and apprehended the suspect before taking him to the police station. They requested that the victim accompany them to the station to file an official report, and a prominent community askan stepped in to assist the victim at the station.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described the incident as a hate crime since the attacker targeted the noticeably Jewish person among the many pedestrians on the street at that time, although the police have not yet officially classified the incident as a hate crime.
