Congressman Mike Lawler Attends Meeting At Achieve Behavioral Health

By Idy Perl
Yesterday afternoon Congressman Mike Lawler attended a meeting at Achieve Behavioral Health, the reputable mental health clinic under the auspices of Bikur Cholim.
Lawler sat with some of the clinic’s management and clinical team to learn more about the amazing work that the clinic does for the community, as well as some of the challenges they face as they attempt to accommodate the growing needs of the community.
They examined the astronomical cost of education for aspiring therapists and mental health counselors, and how it directly impacts the lack of qualified therapists in the community.
Lawler discussed some possible solutions that can be implemented at the federal level, such as grant programs to reduce the cost of education. Regarding the clinic’s financial difficulties, Congressman Lawler strongly agreed on the importance of providing necessary funding for clinics in order to make mental health resources more widely available and accessible.
