Garfield Avenue to Close Tomorrow for Utility Work in New Square
By Y.M. Lowy
Garfield Avenue in New Square will be closed tomorrow as Orange and Rockland crews carry out electrical and gas work between Truman and Wilson.
The project is expected to last throughout the day, and parts of nearby streets may also be closed while the work is underway. Most homes along Garfield Avenue will temporarily lose electricity and gas service for several hours during the day.
According to the Village of New Square, the work being done would normally take several days to complete, but officials requested that Orange and Rockland finish it in a single day to limit disruption for residents.
Crews are expected to have a large presence in the area with trucks and workers stationed throughout the block. Residents and drivers are asked to cooperate to help ensure the work is completed safely and efficiently.
Orange and Rockland will contact affected homes directly with details about service interruptions.
