Congressman Mike Lawler And The Cuo- Tappan Zee Bridge

By Idy Perl
As recently reported by Rockland Daily here, Congressman Mike Lawler has recently spoken out about his concerns regarding
the lawsuit that was brought against the builders of the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.
The lawsuit mentions the substandard materials that were
used when constructing the new bridge, and Lawler expressed the concerns of
many local residents about the long-term and current safety of the bridge. Over the weekend the Congressman
tweeted several times about the bridge and the need for the concerns to be
addressed immediately.
This is not the first time that Congressman Lawler has
spoken out about the bridge. A few months back he campaigned to rename the
bridge and remove Cuomo’s name to bring back its original name, the Tappan Zee Bridge.
Lawler has merch on his website that has the slogan “No Cuomo! Bring BackTappan Zee” on t-shirts, hoodies, mugs, and bumper stickers to further spread
the message.
So far there’s no sign that it’ll happen anytime soon, but whatever
happens, the bridge will always fondly be known to locals as the Tappan Zee
Bridge.
