Chabad Of Virginia Assists Family From Monsey Involved In A Crash

By Idy Perl

Chabad houses throughout the world are known for their incredible chesed and willingness to jump into action to help a fellow Yid. The Chabad shluchim of Richmond, Virginia stepped up this week to help out a family that had no one else to turn to.

Chabad of Richmond received a call early Sunday morning about a Jewish family that had crashed on their way home from Monsey back to Tampa, Florida. The family's vehicle rolled over several times, injuring both parents and ejecting their 4-month old out of the car, and the family was immediately rushed to a local hospital.

The Tampa community heard about the accident and several community members wanted to jump onto the next flight out of Tampa to be with the family, but realized that it would still take them until the late afternoon to arrive in Virginia. A member of the Tampa community reached out to Rabbi Yossel Kranz of Chabad of Virginia, who in turn notified Rabbi Mendy Weiss, the Youth Director of Chabad of Virginia, and they both sprang into action to assist the family.

Rabbi Weiss collected the family's belongings from the scene of the accident and brought it all to the hospital. Rabbi Kranz's wife, Rebbetzin Nechama Kranz, arranged food deliveries to the hospital so the family should have hearty, kosher food to eat during their hospitalization, and visited the hospital to stay with them.

The 4-month old baby miraculously only sustained minor injuries and was released first from the hospital, and the Kranz family stepped up once again to care for the baby until the parents were able to. Both parents were baruch Hashem released from the hospital today and are currently recuperating at the Chabad house.

The Tampa community expressed their gratitude to Chabad of Viriginia for opening their home and hearts to one of their community members. Mi K'amcha Yisroel!
