Flags across the Town of Clarkstown have been lowered to half-staff in honor of Major Sorffly Davius, a local resident, NYPD officer, and U.S. Army National Guard Major who died while serving on active duty in Kuwait.

Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann ordered the flags lowered immediately following the news of Davius’ death. The flags will remain at half-staff until the day of interment.

Town officials said the community is mourning the loss of a dedicated public servant who served both his country and his local community.

Davius was known for his service as a member of the New York City Police Department while also serving as a Major in the U.S. Army National Guard.
