By Y.M. Lowy

Ramapo Police arrested a 26-year-old man after a cab driver reported being threatened by him with a handgun during a pickup on Rockland Lane. The incident started with a verbal dispute, when the suspect lifted his shirt to show a handgun, then took out the weapon. A young child was standing nearby at the time.

Detectives identified the suspect through photos and went to his residence with patrol officers, where he was taken into custody. Police recovered an unserialized ghost gun along with an ammunition feeding device.

The suspect is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Menacing. He was arraigned in court this morning and bail was set.

According to police, the fast report from the victim and coordinated response by officers helped prevent the situation from escalating.
