Weekend Weather: Friday Storms Followed by a Sharp Cooldown

Yisroel R.

Monsey will see a sharp change in the weather this weekend, with Friday’s temperatures in the low 70s giving way to a chilly Shabbos and overnight lows near official ‘freezing’ temperatures. Rain and possible thunderstorms will arrive before the cooldown, followed by dry conditions for Shabbos and Sunday.

Friday will bring rain, with possible thunderstorms mainly during the afternoon. Some storms could be severe. Temperatures will reach a high of 72 degrees, with south-southwest winds at 10 to 15 mph, before dropping to 45 degrees overnight.

Shabbos will begin mostly cloudy, with sunshine returning during the afternoon. The high will reach just 51 degrees, while north-northwest winds at 10 to 20 mph will make it feel colder. Temperatures will fall to around 32 degrees overnight.

Sunday will begin with widespread frost likely before sunny skies help temperatures climb to 58 degrees. Winds will ease to 5 to 10 mph, with another cold night ahead as temperatures drop to 34 degrees.
