Water Problems in Nyack Area Brought Under Control After Two Leaks

Water Problems in Nyack Area Brought Under Control After Two Leaks

By Y.M. Lowy

Earlier, crews dealt with a water problem that caused low pressure concerns in the Nyack area after two separate leaks happened at the same time.

An internal water line leak at the Palisades Center Mall and a water main break on Klein Avenue in West Nyack both hit the system, causing reservoir levels to drop and raising worries about reduced water pressure.

Workers were sent to both locations. Contractors handled the leak inside the mall, while Nyack Water crews and repair teams fixed the broken main on Klein Avenue. Some nearby customers briefly lost water service while the work was being done.

Officials said the mall leak was isolated and repairs on the main continued, with reservoir levels going back up and pressure returning to normal.
