Updates On Jennings Creek Fire

By Idy Perl
The Jennings Creek wildfire in Greenwood Lake is still raging more than a week after it started, and has so far burned over 5,300 acres of land.
In the past few days, more than 100 residents near the fire evacuated their homes when the wildfire worsened and crossed the containment line.
As of the latest reports at 10:30 this morning, those residents are now able to return to their homes as firefighters have finally gotten the fire under control. The fire is 90% contained, and the few hot spots remaining are expected to be extinguished within a week's time.
Crews are continuing their efforts, and NY Air National Guard helicopters will be conducting futher water bucket drops today in coordination with additonal crews on the ground.
