Update: Investigation Closed, No Further Inquiry After Household Supplies Found

Update: shortly before 8pm, Ramapo Police said the investigation has closed as the chemicals found at the location were household cleaning supplies available to buy at retail locations. Federal partners investigating the scene confirmed the same.

All responding agencies left the scene, with no pending investigation or inquiries, Ramapo Police said.

The Town of Ramapo Police Department is currently investigating the discovery of a potential clandestine drug laboratory in the Tallman area. 

The investigation began on the morning of March 5, 2026, after the Rockland County Health Department alerted authorities to suspicious activity at a residence located at 3 Dalewood Drive.

Responding officers arrived at the scene around 11:00 a.m. and confirmed the presence of unidentified materials, prompting an immediate and large-scale emergency response. To ensure public safety, the Tallman Fire Department and the Rockland County Hazmat Team were dispatched to the site, joined by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).

As a precautionary measure, Dalewood Drive was closed to all traffic for several hours while Hazmat technicians conducted a detailed assessment of the substances found. Following an intensive seven-hour operation, the roadway was finally deemed safe and reopened to the public at approximately 6:00 p.m.

While the immediate environmental threat has been cleared, the case is far from closed. Detectives from the Ramapo Police Department are maintaining an active investigation into the nature of the materials and the activities at the residence. No arrests have been announced at this time.
