Two businesses along South Main Street in Spring Valley were robbed during the overnight hours of New Year’s Eve, causing damage to storefronts and resulting in cash being taken from both locations.

According to the Spring Valley Police Department, an officer was flagged down just before 7 a.m. on January 1 after a shattered front door was discovered at Aim’s Convenient Store, located at 37 South Main Street. The store owner reported that approximately $2,000 was taken from the cash register. While detectives were responding to that scene, police received a second report of a broken window at Club De Nutrition, located at 19 South Main Street, where about $60 was reported stolen.

Detectives determined that both businesses had been targeted during the same overnight period. Following an immediate investigation, police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Spring Valley resident Jamaal Jack. He was arrested later that evening and charged in connection with both burglaries.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
