Town of Ramapo Steps In as Spring Valley Adds Help to Tackle Snow-Covered Roads
By Y.M. Lowy
After several days of difficult conditions following the recent storm, the Village of Spring Valley brought in additional help to address snow-covered streets across the village.
Throughout the day, crews were seen working on neighborhood streets, with equipment operating in multiple areas at once. The assistance from the Town of Ramapo is being provided under a one-time arrangement (see letter below), while private contractors are working alongside municipal crews to improve road conditions. The added equipment and manpower were used to expand operations beyond what had been in place earlier in the cleanup process.
In addition to clearing the roadway, the Village also focused on street corners and crossings, where snow and slush had built up after plowing. Workers were seen removing dirty snow from curb areas to allow people to cross streets without having to step through piles of gray sludge left behind.
This will improve conditions on local roads as crews continue working to clear snow and apply salt where needed.
