Stay Safe During Power Outages in Rockland County
By Y.M. Lowy
Power outages can happen at any time, and being ready can make all the difference. The Rockland County Emergency Management Division has a new video showing how to stay safe when the lights go out.
Some key tips: keep generators at least 20 feet away from your house, never in a garage or enclosed space. Keep refrigerators and freezers closed to preserve food, and unplug large appliances to avoid damage from power surges. Flashlights are safer than candles, and use blankets in winter or battery-powered fans in summer.
Being prepared can save lives, so take a few minutes now to make sure you and your family are ready
