Senator Weber Co-Sponsors Legislation to Address Case Backlog in NY Family and Civil Courts Including Rockland

New York State Senator Bill Weber is pleased to announce that Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation that will expand the number of family and civil court judges throughout the state including one in Rockland County.
“Families going through a rough time should not have to undergo months of agony before their case is heard and a resolution reached,” Senator Bill Weber, the only co-sponsor of the legislation, states. “With the urgent need of families in mind, I was proud to co-sponsor this bipartisan bill that will help clear the backlog in Rockland County Family Court and throughout New York State.”
Governor Kathy Hochul signed the groundbreaking Legislation S.9839/A.10540 which will allow for the appointment of twenty-eight additional family court judges in order to reduce the case backlog and delays in family and civil courts across New York State.
The legislation will add sixteen judges in New York City as well as two in Nassau County, two in Suffolk County, and one additional judge in Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Erie, Jefferson, Rensselaer, Rockland, and Westchester counties.
