Rockland Transit Adjusts Schedules for Thanksgiving Weekend

By Y.M. Lowy

Public transportation in Rockland County will run on altered schedules this week as agencies prepare for Thanksgiving.

Most TOR bus routes will follow a Sunday schedule on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. Routes 94, 95 and 97 will not run at all. TRIPS paratransit will offer ADA service only.

Some agencies are adding extra service on Wednesday to help with early travel, including Metro North and NJ Transit, which will run additional afternoon trains.

On Thanksgiving, most services will switch to weekend or limited schedules. That includes Hudson Link, Coach USA, Metro North and NJ Transit. Clarkstown Mini Trans will not run, while Kaser Village Transit will operate its regular winter schedule. Monsey Trails riders should check updated schedules online or by phone.

By Friday, many systems return to their regular weekday service, though some bus lines will still run limited trips.

Anyone riding over the holiday weekend is encouraged to check updated schedules in advance. Most are already posted on agency websites for riders who need quick details.
