Rockland Responds: Town Supervisor Michael Specht Responds To Concern Regarding Garbage Collection Schedule

By Idy Perl
Rockland Daily received the following inquiry from a frustrated resident:
Good afternoon,
Picture the time between 8:50am-9:15am on Route 306 in Monsey. School buses, taxis, and cars are all rushing to their destinations, and amidst the chaos are garbage truck slowly going from house to house collecting garbage. Twice a week!
Is there any way the collection schedule can be changed so that IWS should collect the garbage during the night, as is done in Kaser village? This would prevent traffic backup during the busy morning hours.
Thank you for your assistance.
Rockland Daily reached out to Town Supervisor Michael Specht, who responded with the following:
Dear Ramapo Resident,
We are working with Interstate Waste, our garbage contractor, to come up with a new schedule to minimize inconvenience to our residents. We will be meeting with them within the next 10 days to further discuss the matter. Once we have more information I will update you.
Thank you.
