Rockland Residents Invited to Free Emergency Preparedness Training Class

By Y.M. Lowy

Rockland County residents are invited to attend a free emergency preparedness training class aimed at helping families stay ready for severe weather and other disasters.

The program is part of the New York Citizen Preparedness Training Program, which teaches participants how to respond to natural or man-made emergencies. With extreme weather events becoming more common, being prepared can help families stay safer and recover more quickly.

The training will cover basic emergency response skills, including how to create a family emergency plan and how to store essential supplies for disasters. Each family that attends will receive a free preparedness kit.

The class will be held at the Rockland County Fire Training Center on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Registration is required. Residents can sign up by visiting www.prepare.ny.gov.
