Rockland Daily Launches Safety Reminder Campaign During Heat Wave

By Y.M. Lowy

As dangerous heat settles over New York, BoroPark24, RocklandDaily, MonroeDaily, Williamsburg365, and Brooknews have launched a vital campaign reminding families to take extra care during this intense weather. With real-feel temperatures expected to climb past 100 degrees in many areas, the risk of heat-related illness and other dangers is serious.

One of the most urgent concerns is the danger of children being left in parked cars. Even on a warm day, the temperature inside a vehicle can rise quickly. During a heat wave like this, it can become deadly in minutes. A child’s body heats up much faster than an adult’s, making them especially vulnerable. That’s why we’re urging parents and anyone transporting children to always check the back seat before locking the car and walking away. Set a reminder, leave a bag or phone next to the car seat, do whatever it takes to avoid a tragic mistake.

If you see a child left in a vehicle, act quickly. Call for help. In a heat wave, there’s no time to hesitate.

Please check in on older relatives, make sure your AC is working safely, and drink plenty of water. As always, our communities are strongest when we look out for one another.
