Rockland County Nissan Dealership Among Those in $3 Million Settlement Over Customer Overcharges

Rockland County Nissan Dealership Among Those in $3 Million Settlement Over Customer Overcharges

By Idy Perl

Several New York Nissan dealerships that were found to have overcharged customers are now having to pay up.

On Tuesday, AG Letitia James announced that eight Nissan dealerships are paying more than $3 million in total for overcharging more than 1,700 customers who bought their vehicles after their leases expired. Around $2.8 million will go toward reimbursing customers, and several hundred thousand will go toward penalties.

The eight dealerships are located in New York City, the Hudson Valley, and Long Island, and include the Action Nissan in Rockland County. The Action Nissan dealership will pay a total $157,958 in customer reimbursement.

“Buying a car is a major financial decision, and no one should have to worry about dealers using illegal junk fees to drive up the price,” James said.
