A ceremony was held yesterday evening by Rockland County Legislature Aron Wieder to honor the Rockland Chaverim and Hatzolah Air members who flew down to Arizona two weeks ago to assist in the search for the missing 8-year old boy, as reported by Rockland Daily.
With Hashem's help, it was one of the 14 Rockland Chaverim members who found the missing boy within an hour of landing in Arizona and were able to safely bring him back to his family.
The event was held at the legislature's office, where multiple city officials and the family members of the Chaverim and Hatzolah Air members gathered to recognize their dedication and hard work. Legislature Aron Wieder presented each of the Chaverim and Hatzolah Air members with a certificate of recognition.
"These volunteers care enough to spend hours and hours training and responding, and they routinely make a difference in the lives of so many," Legislature Wieder said. "They spend spend time away from their own families to make sure other families are spared grief and hardship."
Wieder went on to explain why a family in crisis in Arizona, some 2000 miles away from Rockland, would reach out to Chaverim of Rockland in a time of need.
“They knew, like so many have come to know over the years, of the outstanding reputation earned by Chaverim’s volunteers. They knew of the volunteers’ willingness and successes when it came to locating missing persons.”
