Reminder: Hydrant Flushing Begins Tonight in West and Central Nyack
By Y.M. Lowy
Rockland Daily previously reported that the Nyack Water Department would begin its scheduled hydrant flushing program and the work is now getting underway tonight.
Flushing will take place nightly until Friday, May 8, between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., with some testing possibly extending beyond those hours.
The overnight work is part of routine maintenance to improve water quality by clearing mineral buildup and sediment, while also ensuring hydrants are fully operational and checking water pressure.
Residents may notice temporary water discoloration or reduced pressure during this time. Anyone experiencing discoloration should run cold water until it clears, and those using booster pumps are advised to turn them off overnight.
Officials are asking for the public’s cooperation as the work gets underway.
