Nyack Announces Overnight Hydrant Flushing in West and Central Nyack

The Nyack Water Department has announced scheduled hydrant flushing in West Nyack and Central Nyack beginning Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8, 2026.

Officials say the overnight work is part of routine maintenance to help maintain water quality by clearing out mineral buildup, iron deposits, and other sediment from the system, while also ensuring hydrants are fully operational for emergency use and testing water pressure.

Flushing will take place nightly between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., though crews note that pressure and flow testing may extend work times.

Residents may notice temporary water discoloration or reduced water pressure during this period. Those using booster pumps are advised to turn them off overnight, and anyone experiencing discolored water should run cold water until it clears.

Officials are asking for the public’s cooperation as the work is carried out.
