By Yisroel R.
The Ramapo Town Board unanimously approved the 2026 Town Budget on Wednesday night in a 4–0 vote, adopting a spending plan that stays under the tax cap while continuing to support important services and community needs. The vote took place during the Town Board’s regular public meeting.
The new budget keeps increases to a minimum, with Unincorporated Ramapo seeing less than a one percent adjustment. The amount rises from $3,884 to $3,919, a change of $34. All figures are based on an average home with a $50,000 taxable assessment. This helps maintain essential operations across the Town.
Several full-service villages, including Spring Valley and Suffern, will see reductions in their Town tax portion for 2026. Spring Valley decreases from $1,021 to $1,006, and Suffern drops from $915 to $899. These changes reflect how different areas use various municipal services.
Town Supervisor Michael Specht welcomed the unanimous vote, saying:
“I’m happy to have unanimously passed the 2026 budget, which reflects the Town Board’s commitment to being fiscally responsible while continuing the mission of making our streets safer and investing in the many quality-of-life issues that affect our vibrant and growing community.”
The 2026 budget takes effect on January 1.
