O&R Begins Installing New Underground Utility Line on Sunrise Drive in Monsey

By Yisroel R.

Orange & Rockland (O&R) started work today on Sunrise Drive in Monsey, between Monsey Boulevard and Park Lane, to upgrade and strengthen the gas system serving the neighborhood. The project includes replacing the existing 2-inch AA main with a new 2-inch PLX main, improving long-term reliability for the homes in that area.

Crews will be trenching and replacing approximately 1,100 feet along Sunrise Drive, from Monsey Boulevard to Park Lane. As part of the project, 21 services will be replaced, and customers will be notified in advance to schedule their individual service appointments.

The work is expected to take about three to four weeks, weather permitting. There will be no road closures and no detours, and Sunrise Drive will remain open throughout the project, with only occasional minor delays possible.

Ramapo Highway Superintendent Fred Brinn told Rockland Daily the town is pleased to see these upgrades moving forward, noting that the improvements will reinforce the reliability of gas service for the neighborhood.

The project is expected to be completed with minimal impact to local residents.
