Ramapo’s Big Push for Sidewalks and Drainage Upgrades in 2025
The Town of Ramapo has been hard at work this year making major upgrades to sidewalks and drainage systems, and residents are already seeing the benefits.
Town contractors are wrapping up the Carlton Road project, which stretches from College Road to West Maple Avenue. This project, combined with earlier work along West Carlton Road to the rear entrance of the Highview Hills development, has provided more than two miles of new sidewalk — a major boost for walkability and safety.
Just before that, similar improvements were completed along Cragmere Road (Yorkshire Drive to Campbell Avenue, adding a half-mile of sidewalk) and Lenore Avenue (Suzanne Drive to the end of the road, about one-third of a mile).
Work hasn’t stopped there. Orchard Street is now under construction, with curb and sidewalk installation underway between Saddle River Road and Route 306.
Looking ahead, the Town says it will be tackling several additional streets over the next year, including Maple Terrace, Grove Street, Roberts Road, Smolley Drive, Neil Road, Calvert Drive, and Campbell Avenue.
With so many projects completed and more on the way, 2025 is shaping up to be one of the busiest years yet for Ramapo’s Department of Public Works — making local roads safer, more accessible, and better equipped to handle drainage issues.
