Ramapo Police Warn About Roofer Scam

By Idy Perl
Ramapo police are warning residents about a "roofer scam" that is currently going on.
A person claiming to be a professional roofer has been knocking on doors, telling residents that their roof is damaged and offering his services at a discounted rate. One resident who fell for the scam reported that after he started working, the "roofer" demanded a $75,000 deposit to use expensive tools on the roof. The resident gave him a check, believing that it'll be returned once the work was completed, but the roofer never returned to finish the repairs.
If you are approached by someone claiming to offer services at a discounted rate, be aware that it might be a scam.
