Ramapo Police Highlight Drone Program in Regional Public Safety Meeting

The Town of Ramapo Police Department hosted a regional meeting on Wednesday, bringing together the five town supervisors of Rockland County to discuss public safety initiatives and emerging technologies.

During the meeting, Chief Daniel Hyman outlined how the department’s Drone as First Responder (DFR) program is enhancing emergency response capabilities. Officials explained that the technology allows drones to be deployed immediately to incident scenes, often arriving before officers and providing real-time aerial intelligence.

Attendees also heard from several law enforcement professionals with experience in advanced policing strategies, who spoke about the growing role of drone technology in modern public safety operations. A live demonstration was conducted, with drone footage streamed to participants, showcasing how the system operates in real time.

According to officials, the program is already improving situational awareness, response times, and officer safety across the town. The meeting was described as a collaborative effort to explore innovative approaches to policing and strengthen coordination among local leaders.
