Ramapo Highway Department to Begin Final Road Restoration Projects of 2026

The Town of Ramapo Highway Department will begin milling and paving several roads across the Town of Ramapo on Thursday, October 29, as part of the final road restoration work of the 2026 season.

Ramapo Highway Superintendent Fred Brinn told Rockland Daily, that the work follows water main installations carried out by Veolia Water Company on the affected streets, and Veolia is responsible for restoring the roads to their previous condition following the work and is providing the funding for the Town of Ramapo Highway Department to complete the milling and paving.

Work will begin in Monsey, starting on Saddle River Road between Grove Street and West Maple Avenue, followed over the next several days by Mountain Road and Nelson Road, and then at South Parker Drive between Forshay Road and Route 306 in Wesley Hills.

Milling is expected to take place from October 29 through November 3, followed by paving from November 3 through November 6, weather permitting. Residents along the affected streets are asked to watch for posted no-parking signs, which will provide the specific dates when work is scheduled for their street.

Once these roads are completed, Ramapo's 2026 road rehabilitation and restoration season will come to an end. With the paving companies and asphalt plants closing for the winter and major paving work no longer practical during colder weather, the Highway Department will shift its focus toward winter preparedness and the upcoming snow season.

There will be no full road closures during the work. Crews will work on one side of the roadway at a time, allowing traffic to continue through the area. Drivers are asked to use caution while traveling through the work zones and should expect minor delays.
