Twenty-four firefighters from the Monsey Fire Department recently attended an ice rescue training, organized by the Monsey Fire Department and provided by instructors from Capital Technical Rescue, to learn how to rescue victims from frozen waters.

The training was held on the frozen lake at Willow Tree Park in Wesley Hills, and entails 16 hours of training over a span of two days, the second of which will be completed next week. For some of the firefighters the training is a refresher course, while for others it's their first time participating.

Monsey FD maintains a full array of state of the art ice rescue equipment to effectively respond to any ice emergencies in the Monsey area.
