Palisades Interstate Park Sustains Damage From Severe Weather

Tuesday’s rainstorms have damaged parts of the Palisades
Interstate Park.
The 12-mile park along the Hudson River sustained
significant damage due to mudslides, crumbling roads, and falling debris during
the severe weather. Around 5 miles of the park are currently inaccessible by
car, and the park is closed from the Ross Dock picnic area in Fort Lee all the
way up to the Alpine Circle.
Park authorities say that it’s unclear when this portion of
the park will reopen.
“There’s holes, collapses, pretty scary stuff,” park
director Joshua Laird said. “We see some bulges and areas we need to inspect
before we can be certain everything is safe.”
