Hatzoloh of Rockland honored outgoing Clarkstown Police Chief Jeffrey Wanamaker today, recognizing his 38 years of service to the community.
Members of local emergency services and community representatives gathered at the Clarkstown Police Department as a plaque was presented to Chief Wanamaker, acknowledging his long career and leadership of the department.
The plaque was handed over by Hatzoloh coordinator Abe Rosenberg, on behalf of the organization, in appreciation of the Chief’s years of partnership and support.
Outgoing Chief Wanamaker, in a statement to Rockland Daily, thanked the community and partner organizations for their support throughout his career. He said his focus was always on doing what is best for the residents of Clarkstown and expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by multiple agencies, especially Hatzoloh.
“I think I’ve left the police department in a very good place, and it’s going to be in an even better place when Chief Fay takes over,” Wanamaker said. He added that the department will continue its tradition of being among the top police agencies in the state and the country.
Incoming Chief James Fay also shared a message with Rockland Daily, reflecting on his long connection with Wanamaker.
“I’m happy to see Chief Wanamaker wrap up a very long, distinguished career. It’s been my honor, we go back 32 years. He was my first training officer, so it’s kind of special,” Fay said. “I’m also very happy that Hatzoloh came in and presented him with this award today.”
Chief Wanamaker is retiring after nearly four decades with the department, leaving behind a record of long-standing service and cooperation with emergency responders throughout the county.
