Office for the Aging Launches Portable Meal Program

Rockland County Executive Ed Day and Office for the Aging (OFA) Director Cheryl Ward proudly announced the launch of a new Portable Meal Program Monday. This initiative will provide five nutritionally balanced meals every week to eligible older adults in Spring Valley, Haverstraw, and Nyack that are prepared by Meals on Wheels Rockland.
“I commend our Office for the Aging for developing and implementing this important program. Food-insecure older residents now have another reliable way to access healthy meals in their communities. I encourage any older residents in need to reach out and determine their eligibility,” said County Executive Ed Day.
The Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center in Spring Valley, the Central Presbyterian Church in Haverstraw, and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Nyack are partnering with OFA to help reach residents in need and facilitate distribution more effectively.
“We are excited to collaborate with Meals on Wheels Rockland and our valued community agencies in Spring Valley, Nyack, and Haverstraw. Establishing a presence in these underserved areas will allow OFA to reach residents who need these meals the most,” said Director Cheryl Ward.
Registration is required and can be completed through any of the participating community partners. For additional information contact the Rockland County Office for the Aging at (845) 364-2110 or ofa@co.rockland.ny.us.
