O&R Rates To Increase Starting April 1st

By Idy Perl
Unfortunately, this is not an April Fool's joke.
Starting on April 1st, O&R customers will see their heating and electric bills increase due to a new 3-year rate plan that was recently approved by the New York State Public Service Commission.
The plan approves electric rate increases of 4.6% starting April 2025, 3.3% in 2026, and 3.5% in 2027, in addition to heating increases of 10.9% in 2025, 3.5% in 2026, and 3.8% in 2027.
The new rates will give O&R a revenue of approximately $10.4 million in 2025, 2026, and 2027, which will be invested in developing infrastructure, O&R’s clean and resilient energy projects, and the Energy Affordability Programs, which provides around $21 million in bill discounts to low-income customers.
