O&R Preps for Tonight's Severe Weather

Orange and Rockland Utilities (O&R) is preparing to mobilize its emergency response workforce along with mutual aid crews on Sunday night to repair potential damage and restore possible power outages that could result from strong gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and possibly severe isolated thunderstorms throughout the region between 10 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.
A heavy thunderstorm could pose a significant threat to electric service because its associated high winds and lightning strikes contribute to downing trees, tree limbs, and overhead electric lines --- all of which could interfere with the safe, reliable delivery of electric service.
The storm is expected to bring 1.5-3.5 inches of rain and winds sustained at 10-25 mph with gusts of 40-50 mph. Those gusty winds sustained 10-25 mph, gusting to 35-45 mph are expected to linger through late afternoon Monday.
