New Stop Sign Installed At Union Road And Grandview Avenue Intersection

By Idy Perl

After complaints from local residents and one too many accidents, a new stop sign has been installed at the intersection of Union Road and Grandview Avenue in New Hempstead. The new stop sign will ease the flow of traffic and allow cars turning into or coming out of Grandview Avenue a chance to turn.

"After several recent accidents at this intersection, the Village of New Hempstead asked the County to conduct a traffic study. Based on the findings, our traffic engineer recommended installing a stop sign at Union Avenue and Grandview Avenue," Charles Vezzetti, County of Rockland Highway Superintendent told Rockland Daily. "We expect this measure will help reduce crashes and make the roadway safer for everyone."

"Public safety is always our top priority," County Executive Ed Day said in a statement to Rockland Daily. "By working closely with local officials and acting on data-driven recommendations, we’re taking proactive steps to protect drivers, pedestrians, and the entire community."
